Originally built in 1832, formerly a wheelwright’s, sometime brewery, blacksmith and latterly a cavernous pub. The Mulberry Tree continues to grow since its opening in April 2000.

Mark Prescott head chef and business partner started his apprenticeship at the Chester Grosvenor. He then moved to London where he worked as one of the first British chefs to be employed by the famous Roux brothers, working at the Waterside Inn at Bray for 7 years and then to Le Gavroche where he stayed for 9 years to become head chef.

After 16 years at the very top of the restaurant business, Mark returned home to Lancashire bringing with him his rare culinary talents to form a partnership with James Moore. Together they have made The Mulberry Tree one of the most critically acclaimed pub-restaurants in the region.

Within months of its opening, The Mulberry Tree received Lancashire Life’s Best Newcomer 2000-2001 and latterly Restaurant of the Year 2002-2003.

Whilst retaining a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 4 consecutive years and most recently Les Routier’s North West Dining Pub of the Year and highly recommended in the Which Good Food Guide.

Mark has also managed to capture the attention of food critics and celebrities nationally, featuring in numerous national broadsheets and acclaimed food magazines such as ‘Waitross Food Illustrated’ and ‘Delicious’.

Filming by Granada Television began in March and The Mulberry Tree was the first to be featured in a new television series that began in May, 2004.

The Mulberry Tree has quickly become the place to be seen with its fashionable food and a dining experience to be remembered.
